How to Survive as a Professional Rock Vocalist

Voice health is my highest priority as a vocal instructor.  I love working with touring singers, because for them, keeping their voice healthy while performing night after night is a matter of survival, and I have found that the methods outlined in Voice Breakthrough amazingly effective in protecting the health of the vocal cords.

Here’s an example of a rock singer, Rachel Lark, who performed live in 2013:

Ironicly, Rachel’s ability to growl and scream out high notes comes through relaxation! By using much less air, and relaxing her jaw and tongue, she is able to engage her vocal cords more effectively, and get a much edgier tone out of her head voice.
